When next Jorden was aware of anything, his finger twitched. Then his face. Then he let out a pained groan, blinking himself awake. Sunlight streamed through thick canvas curtains that made up the four walls of the room in which he found himself. It might have been a hospital, he thought, but one from another time. The cot was metal, the sheets warm, heavy cotton, and there wasn’t a beeping machine or IV tube in sight.
